WEDNESDAY 4/9

Today I was able to post three more blogs. That's a good feeling, I must say...

Harry and I are still working on the photo booth set up; I moved the equipment to the living room – there’s a bit more room and it’s a lot brighter. I was testing one of my Great Grandmother’s quilts as a background, but it’s just too busy to use as a background. And they do look a little worn – so unfortunately I don’t think using them as is going to work – but I’d like to - they are so beautiful…

I noticed yesterday at the WBC meeting that a few folks thought I said florabakeshop.com (no “s”).  So today it just made sense to get that domain and link it to the blog… I also registered a couple other versions – just in case…

Carlos asked me to go to the WBC Speed Mentoring event on Friday, so I’ll be baking and decorating tomorrow - I want to bring in some samples. I’m also going to make some logo cookies for the footer icons on the squarespace site.

FRIDAY 4/11

This morning I designed and printed out business cards (Avery snap out 2 sided #8873) – I’m still fussing around with the logo – I know I need a pro’s help with the spacing and font, but you gotta do what you gotta do and I need business cards so these will have to do for now. The back is updated with the current best photo of a cookie design, so people will have a visual of what I do immediately.

I also created a one sheet about the “big idea” to hand out at the meeting – I figure it’d save me having to explain the exact same concept multiple times to the different mentors.

And I decided on this color of pink for the logo. Nice and bright.

ZION BANK – WBC SPEED MENTORING (4/11)

It was great, but I’m not really ready for this step, so I probably was not the best candidate for this one… But I got some GREAT advice. Legal: go with LLC and make sure to have an Operator Agreement,  get a bank account WITH a credit card and when I’m ready I need to get a lawyer to draw up the employee agreement because of the nature of my idea. I also need to get off my butt and get my quickbooks set up so I can more easily do the bookkeeping.

After the event, I had some cookies leftover so I walked around and handed them out to a bunch of folks around the bank. The delivery guy in the elevator, a bunch of restaurant folks and some of the tellers downstairs. I also gave some to one of the bank officers and right then and there she ordered a basket for an event at http://www.harrisonshope.com/ for next Wednesday.

After I got home, I looked up “spring sugar cookies” for some inspiration and then spent ½ hour “researching” – my term for wasting copious amounts of time on google image search! Argh – Forget about keeping up with your schedule… So MUCH good stuff, I just keep clicking and clicking and clicking my day away.

After I made myself stop, I worked on adding data to the spreadsheets for bookkeeping / money in / money out! So far there is Way more out than in (supplies and packaging), but we’ll get there…
